INTRODUCTION TO ESG RATINGS
Investment is increasingly directed toward companies with strong ESG performance, and policymakers are starting to implement regulations that mandate the disclosure of ESG-related information. This has resulted in the emergence of ESG rating agencies that assess companies based on their environmental, social, and governance performance as well as the veracity of sustainability-related claims.
The ESG rating industry is gaining prominence as the amount and variety of ESG data grow, and its reliability becomes more crucial. In response, regulators are drafting rules to enhance transparency in this area. This workshop discusses the purpose of ESG scores and ratings, the parties that use them, the entities that calculate them, and the challenges associated with their use.
