BUSSINESS AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE EXTRACTIVE SECTOR The extractive sector has been seen as a controversial sector for a long time, it is because of the various issues of human rights violations that mostly happened there. Various improvement efforts have been made, including conducting due diligence and human rights impact assessments. With the increasing need for minerals for energy transition, mining activities around the world including Indonesia, will increase, resulting in higher human rights risks for companies and their stakeholders. This discussion will present the current human rights situation in the mining sector, including various initiatives for its management, as well as its urgency for Indonesia.
