Profile of ICSP
The Institute for Certified Sustainability Practitioners (ICSP) is an association based in Jakarta, Indonesia, that aligns professionals in the field of sustainability to focus on and encourage the development of sustainability.
ICSP continues to promote this field of knowledge and encourages all organizations and practitioners of sustainability to be the best in their field.
For both individual and organization members in business, academia and non-governmental areas, the ability to gain confidence among people who have a benchmarked certification along globally standard lines is a primary aim of the institute.
As well as building confidence in quality, ICSP also aims to apply professional standards to ensure that all organizations and practitioners are on the same page, that is to achieve the best in sustainability practice and reporting.
ICSP is committed to spreading awareness about the importance of sustainability for all parties, referring to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were formed at the UN General Assembly in September 2015.
An overview of SDGs
According to Bappenas, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) itself, were initiated in order to maintain the ongoing improvement of the community’s economic welfare, maintain the sustainability of the social life of the community, preserve the quality of the environment and inclusive development also, implement a good governance for the improvement of the quality of life from one generation to the next.
As it was formed at the UN General Assembly a few years ago, United Nation (UN) explained that ‘The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. It provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
